At first, I was worried about the people who closely followed me. But later, I realized God had placed them in my path to teach, nurture, and heal. They benefited greatly from my writings and reflections but needed the integrity to acknowledge me as their teacher, counselor, and nurturer.

| AbdulKarim Yahya | Patient/Student | He was married twice, and there were issues between his first and second families. His children were distraught because he married secretly without considering the feelings of their mother. He was advised to reflect on how his actions and behavior impacted his first wife and children. He had nothing new to teach that one could not learn from Sunday school teacher or read in a book on their own. He falsely claimed that he contributed to my writings but did not provide any evidence to support his claims. In fact, it’s the other way around: he used my writings as his own and promoted my ideas as his. The evidence is found in the dates of my work compared to his claims; he was asked to show works that preceded my publication on social media, mailing lists, or books. |
| Imam Zaid Shakir | Patient | He has a tyrannical persona in the community and an extensive network. He seems to believe that he is the Calipha of the community and starts to monitor Muslims hiding behind female speakers who do his bidding to attack these Muslims. He was publicly called out and put in his place for transgressing his boundaries as a Muslim convert. He is best friends with Abdulkarim Yahya and supports his false claims, working behind the scenes to help him lay claim on my writings. Nepotism is not an expression of gratitude or faith. We mutually do not like each other. He finds me repulsive and I find him more so. |
| Tamara Gray | Patient | She claims to love God and Islam, yet she often involves herself in others’ personal matters. She enjoys spreading gossip and getting involved in other people’s business. She sees herself as a female Calipha instead of a female convert aspiring to be a teacher. She is always running around town gathering dirt on others. She said she could find information on people on social media within one hour. All she gathered on me was pure rumors with no basis in reality. In other words, her skills were in creating and amplifying rumors. |
| Layla Asamarai | Patient | She has a psychology degree, but she uses it in the same way that Jordan Peterson does: by elevating abusive voices in our community and monitoring people on social media as if she were their personal therapist. She was trained on when counselors are abusive, but she continues to engage in damaging behavior in her dealings. |
| Haifa Younis | Patient/Student | She is a medical doctor who started a YouTube account and taught Islam in 2016. There is nothing wrong with that, except she grabbed my ideas and joined the front lines of the smear campaign in the name of God. Where were your voice and writings before 2016? She invites her students to share their sins while presenting herself as a Divinely protected figure. |
| Marwa Assar | Student | She has a PhD and felt it was a license to claim other people’s original ideas. The giveaway was that she did not accurately weave them together. She found some teachers to give her favorable recognition for other people’s work. |
| Yasmin Mogahed | Patient/Student | I wrote via blogs and articles on topics that were not addressed in our community or in sermons. She came publicly on the scene around 2010. She was supported by a large number of Shaykhs who did not like me but liked my writings and used her and others to promote my work as their own. The evidence is found in the dates of my work compared to hers; she was asked to show works that preceded my publication on social media, mailing lists, or books. She could not. She wanted to benefit from my work while working with others to marginalize me and make me feel minor, mentally ill, or traumatized. She was educated on how her actions resemble those of psychopaths, charlatans, and abusers. She seemed to believe that if she sends third parties to remind me of a rumor they weaved, that Satan was reminding me of a sinful past. Many more false claims which were totally at odds with the Quran. If you fear Allah, He teaches you. |
| Omar Suleiman, Yasir Qadhi, Mufti Menk and their Tribe | Students/Patients | There is nothing wrong with being inspired by other people’s work, but giving them credit by citing them is essential. It is okay to offer advice to others, but it becomes wrong when the advice is based on slander and lacks a genuine human connection, which is not allowed in Islam. They were given a taste of their own medicine and complained. They were asked, along with others, to reflect on why they disliked their behavior and actions. Nepotism is not an expression of faith or gratitude. They are unfamiliar with sound religious reasoning. Initially, they would rely on foolish tribal arguments to hype people. Now, they look to me for guidance and knowledge in their spiritual journey. It is rewarding to see their growth and transformation as they become more grounded in their faith. |
| Imam Suhaib Webb | Patient | He is a convert who used to adore Janet Jackson, stating that she is more religious than many native Muslims. He used to be a gangster and hip hop DJ. He feels that because he deviated from Islamic and Christian beliefs, everyone else did as well. He interprets everything he hears based on his personal experiences with drugs, sex, and rock & roll. He was tested, and sadly, he did not seek clarification or understanding but instead interpreted what he heard based on the light that dominated his heart. Many people inadvertently reveal information about themselves when they speak. It is essential to approach situations with an open mind and seek clarity before making assumptions. Self-awareness is crucial for understanding how our life experiences and actions often influence our interpretations of others’ words and actions. Turn to God and ask Him for guidance on what you need to do, given this insight. |
| Dalia Mogahed | Patient/Student | She claimed to be against propaganda and an advocate against Islamophobia. However, her lack of critical thinking became evident as she readily engaged in smear campaigns. She unequivocally presents her subjective viewpoints as irrefutable truths. This reflects arrogance rather than confidence. She failed to embody her advocated principles, ultimately revealing her self-serving nature. Her actions sharply contrasted the standards she imposed on others, resulting in a tarnished reputation among her former admirers. This is a powerful reminder that actions speak louder than words, and authentic leadership depends on unwavering integrity and consistency. After her recent divorce, she actively engages with multiple Shaykhs, healing herself with my writings to ensure she is well-prepared for her subsequent marriage. |
| Celebrate Mercy Speakers: Yahya Rhodus / Rania Awaad / Mikaeel Smith / Maryam Amir / Khalid Latif / Ubaydullah Evans / Lobna Mulla / Yasir Fahmy / Zaynab Ansari | Students/Patients | Actions speak louder than words, and the true character of a person is revealed through their behavior and choices. It is important to be wary of those who claim piety but whose actions are various forms of oppression including smear campaigns, sedition, and plagiarism. It is crucial to pay attention to how individuals treat others and handle difficult situations, as this will provide a more accurate reflection of their values and beliefs. Trust should be earned through consistent actions rather than empty declarations. Please don’t repurpose the themes in my books as your own. Honor integrity instead of plagiarism. Promote yourselves through your original content or give credit and reference my books. Plagiarism followed by smear campaigns are dishonest practices, not piety. Tarek El-Messidi has previously mocked Melania Trump’s plagiarism; however, he gives a platform to Muslim plagiarists at Celebrate Mercy, which should be called Celebrate Nepotism. Celebrate Mercy should strive to uphold ethical standards and promote originality within the Muslim community. |
